CRAFT ALES AND LAGER
Below is our latest selection of Joules Ales & Lager but be sure to contact us as we replace some of our selection seasonallySlumbering Monk
A rich premium ale with a real depth of flavour created using a careful blend of English and American ingredients. Full bodied and smooth with bold malt, nut and fruit notes, enhanced by a pleasing bitter hop character.
Factoid: ‘The Slumbering Monk’ is a wonderful carving in our Brewers Hall, indeed carved by the renowned Robert Mouse man Thompson himself. The carved Monk is slumbering on one side of our beautiful carved fireplace and the Devil is looking rather more sinister on the other. Given this work was originally commissioned for a Yorkshire boardroom, we can only assume Mr Thompson had little regard for the ‘goings-on’ of the board room.
Moon Madness
A mysterious but luxurious mild launched during the full moon in October. Brewed using high-quality English grown malts roasted alive, giving hints of rich fruit, treacle and liquorice. Complemented with a gentle bitterness from traditional hops also grown within our shores. Fly the flag for Britain with this all English arresting ale.
Pure Blonde
Light, refreshing and hoppy best describes this beautiful example of a golden ale with subtle malt and bold citrus character. Brewed with spring water and 3 hops and malt varieties to creates a light and refreshingly hoppy ale.
Blonde is a continentally inspired beer, which is wonderfully light, delicate, hoppy, subtle and at 3.8% still very satisfying, rounded off with a subtle malt and bold citrus character. Brewed with spring water and no less than 3 hop and 3 malt varieties.
Factoid: Brewed with spring water sourced from the Triassic Aquifer that sits over 70m below the Brewery in Market Drayton. This water source has been filtered through layers of sandstone and red bunter pebbles for over 20 years, which we believe gives our beer its light and refreshing flavour.
Shropshire Hop
Nestled in a county full of rich brewing history. Shropshire Hop celebrates the pride we hold for our county, especially as the most prized ingredient in all our brews is our Shropshire Pure Mineral Water.
Shropshire Hop is a 4.3% powerfully hopped golden ale, aromatic and zesty.
With a good depth of malt character, achieved by using a blend of four English grown malts.
Kolkata IPA
September seasonal ale is an authentic Traditional India Pale Ale. Generously hopped as it should be, it delivers a bitter punch, balanced by its strength. Bursting with authentic spice and hop aroma this deep copper ale offers subtle hints of honey and spice upfront with a light berry fruit finish.
Kolkata was inspired by Robert Clive, also known as ‘Clive of India’ was born in a neighbouring village to The Brewery and became Military Officer in the British Army establishing the military and political supremacy of the East India Company in Bengal. He is credited with securing India, and the wealth that followed for the British crown. The first of these conquests was the battle of Calcutta in February 1757, inspiring a series of further victories.
Clive of India died in 1774 and is buried in St Margaret’s Parish Church at Moreton Say, Market Drayton.
Green Monkey Lager
As promoters of craft brewing, we advocate flavoursome individually crafted and exciting beers. We use nothing but four core ingredients to create our lager – malt, hops, yeast and the purest mineral water.
In using our carefully selected fresh ingredients, we can guarantee Green Monkey’s premium taste and texture. We are very proud to say Green Monkey will never be pasteurised or artificial carbonated, we like our lagers "Brewery Fresh", and this comes from being laagered for up to four weeks. This careful method develops a naturally carbonated drink, producingthe most delicate of bubbles, creating a smooth finish on the palate.
Clean & fruity with a good bitter-sweet taste, unlike lesser 'Lager' beers, it is stored (laagered) for twice the amount of time to naturally achieve its sparkling, crisp flavour. With some sweetness on the nose and with delicate floral notes, it contains NO artificial ingredients, preservatives or additives and is unpasteurised to each pint 'brewery fresh'.
Local Shropshire Joules ales and lager are always available alongside our usual beers and cider
